About the opportunity:
As a Wastewater Technician, you are responsible for operating the City's storm and sewer lift station, as well as the treatment facility infrastructure. Duties include inspecting and servicing equipment, completing scheduled preventative maintenance, maintaining detailed records of equipment and plant systems, and caring for the building and surrounding grounds. As technicians gain the required certifications and experience, they may advance to higher-level technician positions. While the work is similar across all certification levels, as technicians achieve higher levels of EOCP certification, the tasks become more complex, requiring greater independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
About your background:
Along with Grade 12, you have graduated from a technological training program related to Wastewater Treatment and have a valid EOCP Wastewater Treatment Certificate, Class 1 (see further details below). Along with a minimum of one year of wastewater treatment experience, you have an aptitude for troubleshooting wastewater treatment process and lift station problems while demonstrating a commitment to safety and teamwork. A valid full privilege Class 5 BC driver's license with on-highway air brake endorsement (or out of province equivalent) is required.
For a Level 1 Technician ($39.34 - $40.31) - A valid EOCP Wastewater Treatment Certificate, Class 1 along with one (1) year of experience in wastewater treatment or a related field.
For a Level 2 Technician ($41.32 - $42.35) - A valid EOCP Wastewater Treatment Certificate, Class 2 along with two (2) years of related operating experience.
For a Level 3 Technician ($43.34 - $44.45) - A valid EOCP Wastewater Treatment Certificate, Class 3 along with four (4) years of related operating experience.
For a Level 4 Technician ($44.45 - $45.59) - A valid EOCP Wastewater Treatment Certificate, Level 4 along with a minimum of four (4) years of related operating experience in a Level 3 Wastewater Treatment plant or higher.
